2025 Ford Expedition: A Fresh New Face

It’s been just over a year since we first caught a glimpse of the upcoming Ford Expedition, and now we have an even clearer look at this restyled SUV. Ford’s hometown of Dearborn has become the proving ground for this impressive prototype, showcasing a nearly complete redesign.

A New Look for the Front End

One of the most notable changes for the 2025 Ford Expedition is the completely redesigned grille and front fascia. The previous model’s large rectangular design has been replaced by a more refined and modern look. Gone are the big C-bracket light fixtures, now replaced with smaller lenses that seamlessly blend into a more compact egg-crate grille. The new tapered LED lights outlining the corners form a sleek C shape, angling downward towards the bottom of the grille in a manner reminiscent of the refreshed F-150. While the camo wrap conceals some details of the lower fascia, it’s clear that the corner vents are significantly smaller, giving the Expedition a cleaner, more streamlined appearance.

Subtle Yet Significant Profile Changes

In profile, the 2025 Expedition maintains much of its previous design, but look closely, and you’ll spot a few intriguing updates. The chrome trim towards the back window notches upward slightly, adding a touch of character to the traditionally flat beltline. This minor tweak brings a fresh dimension to the SUV’s side profile. We also get a glimpse of the new wheels, which our spy sources confirm are a striking 24 inches in size. At the rear, the taillights are now thinner, and there are subtle changes to the lower fascia, enhancing the overall look without overwhelming it. An orange sticker on the back confirms that this is indeed a 2025 model year vehicle.

What About the Interior?

While we have a good idea of the exterior changes, the interior remains a bit of a mystery. However, it’s speculated that Ford will introduce a sizable digital makeover for the Expedition’s cabin. This could include a wide digital screen spanning the dashboard, similar to what we’ve seen in the new Lincoln Nautilus. This would be a significant upgrade, aligning the Expedition with the latest in digital and infotainment technology.

Under the Hood

Underneath the hood, there’s talk of Ford potentially adding a hybrid option alongside the well-known 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6. However, nothing has been confirmed yet. The current Expedition, which started production in 2017, likely won’t see a complete generational shift. Instead, it will retain its familiar platform with these visual updates setting it apart from its predecessor.
